Accessibility statement

We work with families who know first-hand what a badly designed service feels like. This site should be usable by everyone, and if it is not, we want to hear about it.

What we have tested

We checked this site ourselves on 3 August 2026. It has not been independently audited, so we do not claim conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. What follows is what we looked at and what we found.

  • Colour contrast. We measured every text and background combination used across the site against the WCAG AA thresholds. One colour used for small print fell slightly short and has been darkened. Everything else now meets AA, most of it comfortably.
  • Page structure. Every page now has a language set, a single main heading, headings in order, and a marked-up main content area, so a screen reader can announce the shape of a page and move through it.
  • Skipping the menu. A “Skip to content” link now appears as soon as you press Tab, so you do not have to move through the whole header on every page.
  • Keyboard focus. Every link and button shows a clear blue focus ring when you reach it by keyboard. Our enquiry pop-up and cookie banner keep keyboard focus inside them while they are open, and the pop-up closes with the Escape key.
  • Reduced motion. The site has some gentle fade-in movement. If your device is set to reduce motion, that movement is now switched off.
  • Images. Every image on the site has a text alternative written for it.

What we have not tested

We would rather list this than let you assume otherwise.

  • The site has not been tested with a screen reader by someone who uses one day to day. That is the test that matters most, and we have not done it.
  • There has been no independent audit, so we cannot claim a conformance level.
  • We have not tested with speech recognition software, switch access or screen magnification.

Where we know we fall short

  • Our online diary and our enquiry forms are provided by a third-party platform and are shown inside this site, including in pop-up windows. We do not control that code and cannot guarantee it meets AA. If it gets in your way, call us on 07444 783390 and we will take your details or book the time with you directly.
  • Some documents we link to were produced by St. James’s Place as PDFs. Older PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will supply the content in another format.
  • Where we add video, captions and a transcript will go with it.

Getting information another way

If you need anything on this site – or anything we send you as a client – in large print, in a different colour or contrast, as an audio file, or read to you over the phone, just ask. We can also arrange more time in meetings, send written notes ahead of a conversation, or speak to someone who supports you if you would rather they were involved.

Telling us about a problem

If you find something on this site you cannot use, please tell us what page you were on and what happened. Call 07444 783390 or use the contact page. We aim to reply within five working days, and if it is something we can fix we will tell you when.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise it with us as a complaint and we will handle it under our complaints procedure.

Would you rather just talk?

Nothing on this site needs to be used to reach us. Call and we will take it from there.
