Remortgage Advice | Legacy Capital Management

Remortgage advice

If your current mortgage deal is coming to an end, doing nothing is usually a more expensive option. When a fixed or discounted deal finishes, you typically move onto your lender’s standard variable rate, which is often much higher.

We help people across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire remortgage to a better deal, release equity for other plans, or simply get the certainty of a fixed rate. We tell you honestly whether switching is worth it for you.

Remortgage advice for homeowners in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire

When should you remortgage?

The best time to start looking is usually around three to six months before your current deal ends, which gives you time to arrange a new deal to start the moment your old one finishes. We help you time it right, so you never drift onto an expensive standard variable rate by accident.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Reasons people remortgage

Whatever your reason, we help you weigh up whether remortgaging makes sense, taking into account any early repayment charges and fees, so the decision is based on real numbers.

01

A better rate

The most common reason. Lower the monthly payment, or keep the payment and shorten the term, once fees and any early repayment charges are counted properly.

02

Releasing equity

Funding home improvements or an adaptation, helping family with a deposit, or consolidating other borrowing. We will be honest about whether that is a sensible use of the borrowing.

03

Certainty

Fixing your rate for a known period so the payment stops being something you have to think about. Peace of mind is a legitimate reason on its own.

Is it always worth switching?

Not always, and we will tell you straight if it is not. Sometimes staying put, or taking a new deal with your existing lender, is the better move.

We offer a comprehensive range of first charge mortgages from across the market, which lenders make available to mortgage intermediaries, for which we will be paid a procuration fee by the lender. We do not consider products which are only offered directly to the public from a lender (direct deals).

That means the recommendation is based on your circumstances rather than on what a single institution happens to sell.

If rates fall before you complete, we do the work again

A mortgage offer is often made weeks, sometimes months, before you actually complete, and rates move in that time. Most brokers stop looking once your offer is issued. We keep watching the market right up to the day you complete, and if a better rate becomes available for you before then we will submit a fresh application to secure it.

There is no extra charge for that second application. It is part of the service for every client, because the point of the advice is to get you the right deal on the day it matters, not the day the paperwork happened to be signed.

Review your rate

If your deal is ending in the next six months, now is the time to look at your options. No obligation, and it could save you a considerable amount.
