Financial adviser in Oxfordshire
We advise clients across Oxfordshire on their financial planning, their mortgages and their protection, working in person where it helps and by video where that suits you better.
Advice across the county
Oxfordshire is a little further from our Stoke Poges office than Bucks or Berks, and it is a county we know well. The A40 and the M40 make Oxford, Henley and Thame straightforward, and for shorter conversations a video call saves everybody an hour in the car.
The working lives here are distinctive. The universities and hospitals mean a great many clients are in defined benefit or public sector pension schemes that behave quite differently from a workplace pension, and understanding what you already have is a bigger part of the job than usual. Around Oxford and the science parks we also see academics and researchers on fixed-term contracts, where income is less predictable and both mortgages and protection need more thought.
Elsewhere in the county there is a good deal of older, higher-value property, which brings the same inheritance tax questions we see in south Bucks, often alongside a family business or land.

Oxfordshire is a longer drive, so we tend to start on video and come out to you when there is something worth doing face to face.
Some clients would rather we came to them, particularly for the first conversation and when there is paperwork to go through together. Others would rather keep it short and do it by video between meetings. We work either way, and most people end up with a mix of the two.
Questions we are asked locally
Is Oxfordshire too far for you?
No. We work with clients across the county. The practical difference is that we lean a little more on video for the routine conversations, and travel out for the ones where sitting down together genuinely helps.
Do you advise on university and NHS pensions?
We advise on how a scheme like that fits into your wider plan: what income it is likely to give you, when you can afford to stop, and what to do with everything else around it. We do not advise on transferring out of that kind of scheme.
My income is from fixed-term contracts. Can you still help?
Yes, and it is worth getting advice earlier rather than later. Contract income affects what lenders will do and makes income protection more important, not less. Both are easier to sort out before you need them.
