Financial adviser in Oxford
We advise clients in and around Oxford on their financial planning, their mortgages and their protection, working by video where that is easier and coming out to you when it helps.
Advice built around the scheme you already have
Oxford is unlike most of the places we work. A great many of the people we speak to here are members of a university, college or NHS pension scheme, and those behave nothing like an ordinary workplace pension. The most useful thing we do is often simply explaining what you already have: what it will pay you, when, and what happens to it if you change jobs or stop early.
Around that sits everything else, and that is usually where the work is. What to do with additional savings, how much you can afford to put away, whether to buy added years or invest elsewhere, and how it all adds up to the retirement date you have in mind. We do not advise on transferring out of that kind of scheme.
The city also has an unusual amount of fixed-term and research-funded work, where income is genuinely uncertain for years at a time. That affects what lenders will do and makes income protection considerably more important. Both are much easier to arrange while a contract is running than between them.

Oxford is our longest regular drive, so we tend to begin on video and come out when sitting down together is worth the journey.
Some clients would rather we came to them, particularly for the first conversation and when there is paperwork to go through together. Others would rather keep it short and do it by video between meetings. We work either way, and most people end up with a mix of the two.
Questions we are asked locally
Do you advise on the USS or NHS pension?
We advise on how it fits into your wider plan: what income it is likely to give you, when you could afford to stop, and what to do with your other savings around it. We do not advise on transferring out of that kind of scheme.
My contract runs out in two years. Should I still be planning?
Yes, and arguably more urgently. Protection and mortgage arrangements are far easier to put in place while you are earning than during a gap, and knowing what you would need to fall back on changes how much you feel you can commit to now.
Would we have to meet in person?
Not unless you want to. Most of our Oxford clients do the routine conversations by video and see us face to face for the meetings where it genuinely helps.
